We only spent a night in studio, says Refigah

Refigah’s Grandpa Records seems to be on a roll producing hits almost every week and signing artists from all and around East Africa.

Hivo Ndo Kunaendanga, a product of the label by Majirani featuring Kenrazy and V-Sita, has for the fourth week consecutively been securing top position on all Mdundo charts including weekly TOP25 and daily TOP10.

The song has a catchy tune and hook with amazing punch lines and memorable lyrics including the phrase ‘hivo ndo kunaendanga’ to mean something like ‘that’s how the cookie crumbles’.

We managed to get a few quotes from Refigah on the idea behind the club banger in a phone conversation.

“Basically just like the song title suggests, that’s how things turn out in real life. Bad things happen and there’s nothing you can do about it but just to move on,” the label’s boss stated.

“We spent the whole night in studio with the three artists writing it down and trying to find a proper way to present it. By the next morning we were done with everything,” he added.

Grandpa will be presenting a new female artist to their fans tomorrow in an event at the Tribeka. The artist only identified as Libby will premier her debut video during the event.
