Afrobeats queen Tiwa Savage has spoken on the perceived bad blood between Nigerian and South African artists.  She admits Nigerian relations with South African artists aren’t as bad as people think although there are a few strained relationships which are normal in any music industry. Nevertheless, the ‘Somebody’s Son’ hitmaker calls for healing from both sides in order to move forward.

“I absolutely love South Africa and I think the actions of a few people shouldn’t really reflect the whole country and it happens everywhere,” she tells Unveil Africa. She further adds; “I think there is a lot of healing that needs to be done between Nigerians and South Africans and I think now is the time for people to speak up and to just know that we are brothers and sisters…nobody wins when there is bloodshed and that’s the honest truth.”

In 2019, Burna Boy and South African rapper AKA got into an online rift which they buried in September 2022.

Tiwa and a host of other female Nigerian artists such as Simi, Niniola, Yemi Alade, and Teni are also mending the broken relationships for the sake of other generations to come. The award-winning artist adds that the spirit of Fela Kuti and Nigerian hustle is what makes artists remain on top of the game in Africa. She wants to be remembered as an artist who conquered the world and achieved her dreams by staying positive and changing things around.
