Rema's Calm Down Becomes the Most Popular Song in India

Afrorave star Rema is celebrating a new milestone with his ‘Calm Down’ hit song which ranks top among the most popular songs in India. 

He shared a screenshot of the Indian Music Industry chart week for January 9 showing ‘Calm Down’ at the top of the chart. Close to a year after the release of his debut ‘Rave & Roses album, the song broke into new markets to become an international sensation. 

Just last week, the song was played in Saudi Arabia’s Mrsool Stadium which is home to Al-Nassr, the team that Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo recently joined. Rema shared the video of Arab fans jamming to this popular song on Instagram. He said that he was proud of himself for promoting African music throughout the Gulf.

“I hope y’all can see what I’m doing for the culture. That’s all I have to say for now,” he captioned the video.

An additional defining moment for "Calm Down" was the song being played in the Emirates Stadium a few days after the same feat in Saudi Arabia. 

According to Rema, this marked the beginning of a new chapter for African music on the world stage. This song was also played in one of the stadiums during the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
