Celebrated Kenyan gospel musicians Kymo na Stigah have opened up on why they broke up, noting that it had all to do with money.

Speaking during an interview with Jalang’o TV, the duo noted that they rose to fame before setting up a strong foundation, therefore, when money started streaming in, they lacked a clear agreement on how to share it.

“No matter how high a building will go, if the foundations were not laid right it will sink. The way we started off, there were some things we didn’t do that’s why mentorship is very important…Initially it was three of us, Kymo, Stigah and Kabi wa Jesus…and Kabi was running everything, but we all wanted our fair share,” the group told Jalang’o.

Kymo and Stigah parted ways and decided to pursue solo projects in 2017. However, four years later, they have come back together again and decided to work as a team.

Early this month, they released a new song dubbed ‘I Garrit’ marking the group’s comeback into the industry.

‘I Garrit’ is one of those songs definitely meant to get you off your seat. Unlike what we are used to hearing from Kymo and Stigah, ‘I Garrit’ sounds a bit different but still retains the hype and humor that Kymo and Stigah carries as signature.

Since the re-opening of the country from the exhausting lock down and curfew, Kymo and Stigah thought of something that could jam start the country and this is how ‘I Garrit’ was created.

The song sells the idea that you and I have the power to change our present situation because the power is within us to do so.

“I got it, you got it, we got it, so let’s go and do it” is the slogan of the song to encourage faith followed by action.
