Speaking during a recent interview on Switch TV, Nasty C noted that growing up he spent time a lot of time at Def Jam Records in Manhattan, America and learned that the labels abroad invest a lot of resources in the digital space.

“We do have a lot of big artists it’s just that our African industry is not as present in the social media space as they are. They are glued to their phones and they have free data and stuff like that,” he said.

“For instance back at home in Durban, we have gospel artists who do crazy numbers but because they are not on social media nobody really knows them,” he added.

Opening upon why he chose to sing in English despite being a South African native, Nasty C noted that most of his fans understand English as compared to Zulu.

He, however, divulged that Zulu has impacted who he is and not so much the kind of music he does. He said his traditional roots guides him on how to conduct himself and how he treats people, but do not influence his music.

“I am just trying to get someone else to understand me and if I have to use a different language, so be it,” he said.
