Alyn Sano Selected as Only Female Artist Performing at RTV’s Liberation Party

Rwandan songstress Alyn Sano has hit a new milestone after she was recently picked as the only female set to perform live on RTV as the country marks the 27th anniversary of its liberation struggle.

The auspicious occasion was held on July 4, but a host of artists are lined up for performances on July 5, as a way of marking the day that brought an end to the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi that left over one million people dead.

It will be streamed live across MTN social media handles as well. Besides Alyn, other artists set to perform on RTV between 6 pm and 7 pm include: Riderman, Jules Sentore and Joel Ruti, MC Tino, Anita Pendo and DJ Infinity.

Alyn excitedly spoke of the honour she felt featuring in the show as the only Rwandan female artist. “Guess the only female artist performing in Liberation Virtual Party sponsored by @mtnrwanda? Ya gal and my other talented brothers When: Monday, 05th July 2021. 18:00 - 19:00 Where: @rba.rwanda #RTV,” she wrote on her Instagram page.

She adds that she is grateful for the opportunity that is testament people lover her art so much.

The event will be televised in a bid to cushion the people from Covid-19. In past years, each anniversary is celebrated in a live concert. But the government has discouraged and disallowed concerts this year due to the pandemic. Each artiste will have 10 to 15 minutes to perform.
