Chao is a passionate musician and content creator who loves to impact the youth through  worship ministry and the creative arts.  

Chao was born in Mombasa and moved to Nairobi before she began school. She went to a total of four different Primary and secondary schools in Nairobi. She finished her Primary education at  Kilimani Primary School and then finished her High School education at St. Georges Girls Secondary school in Nairobi.

How and when did P. Chao start her music career?

Chao discovered her love for music while she was in Primary school. She recalls how she would teach her friends Sunday School songs and then they would knock on neighbours’ doors to present to them the songs they learned. The neighbours would then appreciate their presentations by rewarding them with little goodies like sweets, cookies, etc.

By the time she was in High school, P. Chao would take up every opportunity to present special songs during school assemblies, CU Rallies, Prize giving day, etc. She also never missed the annual music and drama Festivals. She used to participate in the annual Kenya Music Festivals as well as the Drama Festivals as a backup singer, percussionist and actress. 

She later went on to pursue a Diploma in Travel & Tourism and an Undergraduate degree in International Business with a Spanish minor. During her studies in the University, she helped form the university’s first African dance team. She was also a member of her University’s gospel choir and Step dance team. 

She also ministered in her church as a worship leader and Praise dance leader. She later became a full time Campus minister in her church after completing her undergraduate studies. She mentored University students through various outreaches such as small Bible study groups, campus outreaches, worship ministry, counseling, among other duties.
