Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni was on Wednesday sworn in for a new 5-year term after winning the presidential election held in January this year.
Addressing the nation during his inauguration, President Museveni noted that the arts industry was the most affected by the corona pandemic, and promised that his government will provide funds to cushion artists.
He divulged that his administration had set aside UGX Billion (130 million USD) for two financial years to support artists diversely affected by the pandemic.
Reacting to the President’s statement, Ugandan artist Pallaso requested administrators of the fund to ensure the money gets to the rightful owners.
Pallaso further noted that artists will only benefit if the fund administrators maintain high levels of integrity and transparency especially when distributing the money.
As to whether he is eagerly awaiting for his portion of the money, Pallaso noted that his main focus at the moment is to bless his fans with more music.
"As long as my music gets to the people; that's all I care about. About the money, God will provide but for now, I'm looking at blessing my fans with back to back music. If this money gets to me, I will be glad because everyone is looking for money but at the end of the day; with or without this money, I will go on. The only capital I have is my talent," Pallaso told Spark TV.
