Talented Kenyan gospel artist Guardian Angel has opened up on how he selects collaborations with secular artists, noting that he examines what kind of a person the secular artist is before working with him/her.

Speaking during a recent interview, Guardian Angel noted that initially he used to say that he would never collaborate with a secular artist, until he realized he also has his faults and no one is righteous enough to sing for God.

“It depends huyo secular artist pia yeye ako aje, because you see, one thing I consider, initially nilikuanga nasema hiyo ni kitu haiwezekani for me, but then nikakuja kurealize who is the most righteous person, who is righteous enough to sing for God. Nikarealize pia mimi nikona faults zangu, pia mimi nikona dhambi zangu coz mi si mrighteous. So ni nini inanimake ikuwe kwamba mimi pekee ndio nafaa kuimbia Mungu,” he explained.

He expounded that if any artist feels like they have something to tell God they have a right to do that because it is God who has blessed them with the gift, adding that it is not his place to judge anyone’s salvation.

“So pia yeye kama binadamu, ukifeel hii ndio kitu nataka kuimbia God, nataka kuambia God asante, ama nataka kuambia God aniforgive through a song coz yeye ndio amegei gift, basi ukon tu na right yakuifanya. So for mi kama kweli tunataka kumuimbia mungu, atakama haujaokoka, yaani God atadeal na salvation yako.

“Siwezi kujua kwamba maybe through that song ndio God atakuministeria upate salvation. So mi naweza kukataza mtu, nimwambie, wewe kwa sababu we ni secular, nimsideline, kumbe God anataka kuitumia kama opportunity ya kumbring closer that is one,” he added.

Guardian Angel further noted that he can work with a secular artist but only on a gospel song.

“Naweza kuimba na mtu wa secular a gospel song but mi siwezi kuimba secular na yeye. Haiwezekani,” he emphasized.
