Butera Knowless, Meddy Named Among Top 100 African Musicians

Rwanda’s celebrated artistes Butera Knowless and Meddy have been named among Top 100 Musicians in Africa by WatsUp TV in partnership with Avance Media.
Both artistes did remarkably well in 2020. In late 2020, Butera released ‘Player’ which became a big song in Rwanda. She had earlier released ‘Day to Day’ which was also well received.

Two weeks ago, she released ‘Papa’ another big song in Rwanda at the moment. ‘Papa’ highlights a new breed of people who run away from family responsibilities yet they actively participated in its making.

Call it a message to “dead beats” who are not brave enough to shoulder the responsibility of their deeds. It is a big song, obviously due to the deep message it carries. Barely three days after the release of the song, there has been a dance craze with fans rocking to the song’s beats.
Meddy, on the other hand, has a string of great hits. It started with ‘Dusuma’ which he collaborated with Kenyan RnB star Otile Brown then ‘Carolina’ and lastly ‘Beautiful’ featuring Sat B.

‘Carolina’ was released in mid-December and in three weeks, it defied odds to clock a million views on YouTube. Such a pace only affirms that the song is incredibly amazing and has won the hearts of music lovers in Rwanda and beyond.
Meddy’s ‘Carolina’ is themed around the beauty of love; a universal language that many relate to.
