Several years ago, Yvan Buravan caused ripples in Rwanda’s music industry. However, he has been silent and missing in action for a while now. In 2020, he did not release or feature in any new songs.

He recently told The New Times that he is still in music but took time to establish links with other artistes in the continent.

This, he said, would cement his comeback which he anticipates will be huge. He already has a new Extended Playlist (EP) titled ‘Foreign Affairs’.

Interestingly, the EP only has collaborations with artistes from different part of the Africa. The three-track EP has ‘Si Belle’ as the first song ; a remix – featuring A Pass and the second song ‘Tulale’, a collabo with Geze Mawete.

The last song is ‘Tote’ which he has collaborated with Angola-based music group Dream Boys. The original ‘Tote’ was the biggest song back in 2019 when he released it.

This is when Dream Boys contacted him asking for a remix which he granted and is part of his comeback.

“When they realised that their song was already popular in Rwanda, they came up with an idea to do a remix with a Rwandan artiste. So they reached out to me and proposed that I add a verse. It was easy because we are always in touch,” he recalled.

He explained the title of his EP is synonymous with the projection of his career. He is angling on working with various artistes in the continent and beyond.

“These songs are more than collaborations because these are artists that we usually share so many thoughts about what our music can offer.  Geze Mawete hosted me when I was on a music tour in Congo. A Pass has been my friend since he hosted me in his concert back in 2017 and we have since been friends. We can now even brainstorm different ideas that can help our music careers grow,” he said.
