In explaining grounds for refusal of Banton’s application, the Authority cited Section 5 (a) of the Act which specifies as its first objective, to “maintain, protect and enhance public trust and confidence in charitable organizations in Jamaica”.He was denied registration due to his incarceration in the united states of america back in 2011. He was charged with the illegal possession of a firearm and possession of illegal narcotics with intent to distribute.

Buju Banton fought the good fight for his Youth Fund but the Jamaican government had already tightened the noose on the notion. Buju steered clear of failure after giant music distributor Audiomack donated five thousand dollars in support of the Jamaican artist. “We are excited to partner with Buju Banton and The Buju Banton Foundation to help provide resources to the boys so they can have an opportunity to excel at the highest level,” said Audiomack Vice President of Marketing & Brand Strategy Jason Johnson.

Buju has also caught the eye of other international artists and rallied support for his cause.Megastar rapper/producer Kanyewest dug into his deep pockets and donated laptops to Buju’s youth fund.
