Matata Nominated for 2021 MTV Awards

Fast-rising Kenyan gengetone group Matata has been nominated for the 2021 MTV Music Awards set to be held in Kampala Uganda.
Matata has been nominated under the Best Alternative act category and will face off with; Nigeria’s Adekunle Gold, Afrotronix, Amaarae, Ami Faku and Simi.
In an Instagram post, Matata celebrated the nomination and urged their fans to vote in large numbers so that they can bring the award home.

Matata is made up of five young men namely; Freddy Milanya, Festus Mwenda, Richard Mathu, Marcus Ojiambo and Ken Kimthey.
The group has released several hits, with some of their top productions being; Gengetone Love, Kata Mare Mare, Mapema, Ruracio among others.
