5 Top Nigerian Projects of 2020 with No Featured Artists

We are almost at the end of 2020 and this article takes a look at some of the biggest albums and Extended Plays (EPs) that Nigerian artists released this year which have no featured artists.
It is not always easy to put together an EP or album without having to feature at least one or two artists, that is why these 5 – three albums and two EPs from Nigerian artists are worth a mention.
Gratitude – Timaya
This is an album that the Afrosoca artist, Timaya, dropped on November 18, 2020, to mark a continuation of his expansive journey.
‘Gratitude’ that houses 15 tracks runs for 49 minutes – all songs performed by Timaya with no featured artists.
Some of the popular songs off the album that was released under Timaya’s DM Records Limited include; ‘Gra Gra’, ‘Born To Win’ and ‘Chulo Bother Nobody’ all of which have official visuals.
For Broken Ears – Tems
Nigerian alt-R&B singer, songwriter and record producer Tems released this 7-track EP on September 25, 2020.
All songs in the EP plays for 20 minutes and Tems did not feature any artist with ‘Damages’ the most popular song off the project.
King of Love – Kizz Daniel
Released on July 25, 2020, ‘King of Love’ is a Danceable Afropop album with smooth vocals that Kizz Daniel used to deliver lessons in love.
The 17-track album that has no featured artist is 48 minutes long was released under the 2020 Flyboy Inc.
‘Ada’ and ‘Boys are Bad’ and two of the songs off the album that you must listen to – in case you haven’t had time to listen to the whole project.
Get Layd – Omah Lay
This has been the best EP released by a Nigerian artist in 2020 by all parameters – topping the list of most-streamed EPs in the country this year as well as housing a number of hit singles.
‘Get Layd’ is a 5-track 14 minutes-long EP released on May 22, 2020, under the KeyQaad records in which Omah Lay is signed to.
The EP houses the tracks; ‘Bad Influence’, ‘Damn’, ‘You’, ‘Lo Lo’, and ‘Ye Ye Ye’.
Old Romance – Tekno
This is a debut album from Tekno which he released on December 10, 2020.
The 40 minutes ‘Old Romance’ album houses 14 tracks that Tekno uses to reveal the scope of his talents. The album folds snappy lyricism into alluring Afropop melodies tinged with dancehall, R&B, Afrohouse and more.
Besides crafting expectedly dance-ready tunes in ‘Tumbo’ and ‘Dana’, Tekno also ties the obstacles associated with love (‘Family Issues’) into an undeniably celebratory listen— like the previously released ‘Enjoy’ makes clear.
