In a year filled with global pandemics and catastrophes, some of the Nigerian artists have been a light to their followers and to the industry at large due to their contribution through music and presence. Top on the list are,
1. Tiwa Savage
Born in Nigeria, Tiwa Savage grew up in the UK and spent part of her life in the US where she wrote songs for Fantasia Barrino, Mya and others.When she came back to Nigeria, Her first two singles, ‘Kele Kele’ and ‘Love Me 3X’ dropped in 2010 saw her rising and maintaining a lead among the top artists in Nigeria. She has been involved largely in condemning shootings at the Lekki Gate and calling upon global actors to speak out. Among other things, Tiwa Savage has been lending her influence to the fight against rape culture in Nigeria, with the country’s police force having registered more than 700 rape cases between January and May 2020.
Her Album Celia, released in 2020 has been on top of the charts for a better part of the year.
2. Burna Boy

Nigerian Afro-fusion singer-songwriter Burna Boy was featured on Sam Smith's smash hit titled My Oasis. The musician also dropped his chart-topping album Twice As Tall in August. The project was nominated under the World Music Album category in the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards and has lately won big at the MOBO Awards.
3. Davido
The Nigerian star got to work with world superstars this year. He went into the studio with the likes of Nicki Minaj, Nas, Chris Brown, and Lil Baby, among others and later dropped the album titled A Better Time featuring all these international musicians. In July, Davido got to showcase his talent to the world when he performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
