As we come to an end of the first week of December 2020, we take a look at some of the biggest songs released by Nigerian this week.
Your Body – Mayorkun
Mayorkun, The Mayor Of Lagos, wrapped up an impeccable 2020 run with this a pop anthem.
‘Your Body’ produced by Fresh VDM with additional vocals by King Spesh was officially released on December 4.
Peace of Mind – Rema
This is arguably the last song that Rema will be dropping in 2020 – a year that has been good to him, having dropped several hit songs.
The Marvin Records wordsmith released ‘Peace of Mind’ on December 4, a song in which he says; “I talked about how much I yearn for peace because of the thoughts and voices in my head due to what I’m facing personally and what my people are facing as well. So many bad things have happened, and I know many people can relate.”
Melo – Liya
The Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) first lady – Liya, made a glorious beginning to her musical journey by dropping ‘Melo’ on December 8.
‘Melo’ which means ‘how many’ in the Yoruba dialogue, is the first official single from Liya since she was signed to DMW in October – becoming the first female to the label.
Produced by Zaki Magic and Mastered by Mystro, the single comes as a double gift – Liya introduces her sound and vibe with a video premiere. She will also be releasing her first album at the top of next year.
Celebration – Joeboy
To end an impressive year, Joeboy dropped ‘Celebration’ – a song of happiness that signifies that we shall be alright regardless of the challenges.
In a note from the Afropop star introducing the new single, he said: “In a year that has been more torrid than fulfilling for many of us, we still need to give thanks and appreciate the littlest of things and that’s what ‘Celebration’ is about.”
