A few months ago, popular Ugandan songwriter announced that he had quit his songwriting job to take on his new journey as an artist.

He has dropped a number of songs but his latest hit single 'Muyayu' stands out as it is trending on music charts.

Mudra came up with this song title after socialite Bad Black's famous TV interview and it is loosely translated from Luganda to mean 'The Wild One' or an outstanding person in society.

Switching from songwriting to music, Mudra says he was inspired by a brother in 2016 who told him he had all that it takes to sing.

"Music is not easy. Promotion is very hard and getting into people's hearts for them to give you their time and attention. Plus, some people just don't like you," Mudra said.

Mudra is the brains behind hit songs like Vinka's 'My Baby', Omwotto by Cindy and most of Karole Kasita's songs.

Mudra says he does not want to be branded as a songwriter anymore or associate with the songs he did with these artistes.

"When you write, you can't concentrate on music. The artists I wrote for are already making it and I feel I too should start my journey," he said.
