Michael Kiwanuka’s ‘Kiwanuka’ Album Nominated for Grammy Award

UK-based singer and songwriter Michael Kiwanuka who has roots in Uganda has hit a new milestone after his third album dubbed 'Kiwanuka' was nominated under the Best Rock Album category in the 63rd edition of the prestigious Grammy awards.

"I’m so proud and over the moon to say that my album ‘Kiwanuka’ has been nominated for a Grammy! I can’t believe it. So excited that I could pop. My mind is well and truly blown!!! Thank you to @yardmanflo and @dangermousejukebox @recordingacademy #grammys," he posted.

 

The album that dropped in November 2019 was voted as the best album of the year 2020 live on BBC where he performed and received his prestigious award.

In September this year, Kwanuka’s ‘Kiwanuka’ album emerged winner of UK’s Hyundai Mercury Prize beating eleven top best-sellers like Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia and Stormzy’s Heavy is the Head among others.

The super talented 33-year-old artist continues to enjoy stardom with these numerous awards including the Brit Awards, MTV Europe Music Awards. He also won BBC’s Sound of 2012.

Michael Kiwanuka was born and raised in Muswell Hill, London. His parents are Ugandans who moved to the United Kingdom in order to escape the Idi Amin regime.
