Ghanaian gospel artiste, Jemima Annor Yeboah popularly known by her stage name as Jayana has opened up on how she navigated through to the finals of the first edition of the stars of the Future and kept it a secret from her father.
Jayana the award-winning gospel artiste competed with the likes of Ramzy Prince Amui, Irene Logan and Jane who is now known as Efya and more others.
Her music career began in Christ Apostolic Church International and later she continued at Christian Praise International Centre which was founded by the the late father of the singer Bishop Dr. Augustine Annor Yeboah.
Jayana’s interest for music pushed her dream further as her sisters sought for music reality shows and finally got the opportunity to audition in the first Stars of the Future music reality show organized by Charterhouse. She needed a platform to show her talent and that was how it all started.
Jayana did not know how to inform her late father about her participation in the Stars of the Future reality show thinking he would discourage her. She finally learned that it was not optional as the organizers had to interview family member of all contestants for more votes for the next level competition.
“I come from a strong Christian home where my late dad wouldn’t want us to even participate in entertainment-related activities. My late dad hardly watched entertainment shows on television.

“It was really a difficult moment for me to let the cat out of the bag when the competition was getting into the final stage and they needed our parents to share goodwill messages and solicit for votes. My sisters, my mum and myself had to hold a meeting with my father to break the news to him,” Jayana stated.
Unexpectedly to Jayana, the late father received the news gladly and advised her to always uphold her Christian values. In support for this, Jayana’s late father sent circulars to other branches of his church for votes of his daughter.
