It was a double surprise for fans as The Don from Chocolate City announced the great news while releasing his track dubbed ‘Lela’. The release which features legendary songstress Suzanna Owiyo is an ode to African beauty.
Speaking to The Sauce he pointed out the song ‘Lela’ is from a Swahili word meaning black beauty, which also translated to loyalty in French. He indicated that the song hopes to portray the importance of cultural intelligence, and is “supposed to help develop an in-depth understanding of working styles in other cultures. A culturally intelligent workforce will foster a better tolerance, trust, and understanding…cultural differences become strengths in problem-solving rather than obstacles while improved collaboration drives the ability to respond quickly to market changes.”
Don Papichullo is up for consideration in 3 major categories, the second time he been picked up for consideration by the Recording Academy.
Taking to Twitter he noted he was placed in the ‘Best Rap Performance’ category for ‘Che Che’ collaboration Barak Jacuzzi and ‘Wakiritho’ with Sailors. His early 2020 release ‘Another Day’ is also up for consideration in the ‘Record of The Year’ category as we as ‘Best Melodic Rap’ alongside ‘Kamikaze’.
The Grammy considerations is a major step in taking home a Grammy. To be considered, artists must be members of the Recording Academy and meet various criteria to qualify for consideration. The eligibility period for the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards is music released between September 1, 2019, to August 31, 2020.
Only Recording Academy voting members are eligible to vote for the Grammy Awards. This means that Grammys winners are determined by the artists’, musicians’, songwriters’ and producers’ peers.
