Rwandan gospel sensation Liza Kamikazi has spoken about her music’s inspiration. Kamikazi says that her intent is to bring the gospel closer to the people and how she can do it is through music.

Kamikazi, known for her hit song ‘Yesu Wanjye’ said that her transition from secular to gospel music was challenging but she was so determined to make it.

She confessed that she was a believer but at no point did she put God first as it should be.

This, was the biggest challenged in her transition but it took prayers and time to change things.

“All my life I have always believed in God, but I’ve never got to the point where I put Him first. So, I’ve always prayed. I’ve been a Christian all my life. I have always prayed and God has answered many of my prayers. But it was in 2014, when I decided to get serious with God and I wanted to know more about Him, and I spent more time in prayer and reading His word and on that journey. I started digging much more into His word. I started really getting closer to Him in a way that was different from before,” she narrated when she appeared for a show at RTV English News.

In 2014, the mother of three switched to gospel music. She is one of the few people who say they heard God’s voice asking them to do music that puts God first.
