For the love of music, Pierre Claver Munyabugingo alias MPC Padiri quit his service in defunct Rwanda Patriotic Army to venture into his passion which is music.

Padiri always had this urge to instill a sense of patriotism among the youth through his music.

He started out in a seminary school but ended up in the army which he quit in 2003.

It is when he joined the military that he was nicknamed ‘Padiri’ and the name stuck. In his childhood, the 47-year-old retired soldier loved music.

When he retired in 2003 after serving for 11 years, he ventured into other things including a few collaborations but recently opened his studio during lockdown.

Two weeks ago, the father of four released ‘I Miss You’ a new jam which he says is all about patriotism.

He has also released another song dubbed ‘Bibondo’.

“I always have a message that I want to transfer through a song, but I sing the normal life, the kind of life that we all share. I base on patriotism because the youths have to understand the love that their parents had for their country to fight for it”, he told The New Times.

Unlike the allure of riches that comes with music, Padri is driven by love for his country to make music. He says this is his passion.

“I am not doing this for money because I have businesses that I run on the side. I want to inspire people and enjoy my hobby.”
