Ghanaian well-known dancehall artiste, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr popularly known by his professional name as Shatta Wale has said that banning celebrities from marketing alcoholic drinks and betting companies will only drag down the countries’ economy.
This year 2020, the Gaming Commission has stopped celebrities from endorsing and taking ambassadorial contracts in betting companies. The same was done in the year 2015 by The Food and Drugs Authority that hindered celebrities including Shatta Wale and Wendy Shay from endorsing alcoholic drinks.
‘’Those in the creative art industry should wake up and stand against the ban of advertising for alcoholic drinks and sports betting. This is very sad but it will not affect me but rather other people in the industry, “the famous Dancehall King said.
Shatta Wale went further and said “Actors, actresses and anybody in the creative arts industry will lose a lot if this ban is not lifted. Ghanaian celebrities should wake up and talk against some laws of the FDA and the Gaming Commission.”
He again added, “We as a nation should change the way we do our things sometimes because it is not everything that will help us as we are going forward as individuals,”
