The cultural exchange between Jamaicans and black British artists continues to give us amazing club/dance anthems. Jorja Smith has featured Popcaan in new single dubbed ‘Come Over’.

‘Come Over’ is a single about a relationship with bad/no communication hence the constant guessing of what the other party needs and whether they really love you.

Jorja Smith and Popcaan settled on a dancehall beat that is not too busy in how it is layered. The beat is fast paced and at various points breaks to transition from one verse to the chorus and to another verse. Jorja Smith engulfs the beat with her vocals which carry a lot of emotion in their runs and progression.

The video is a beautifully animated piece of art; it focuses on two lovers going through the most emotionally yet they do not want to take a step back and work on their communication. Jorja Smith has been very intentional about the videos she releases and this video is no different. Jorja’s animated streets have placards of Black Lives Matter. In the video, Jorja chose a lady to be the superhero and we watch her stand for herself against men who dare to come at her without consent.

It is exciting to watch artists take a stand in every form possible to create a buzz around things happening in the world. Catch a vibe with Jorja Smith and Popcaan on ‘Come Over’.
