Celebrated Zimbabwean crooner David Machaka still has a long way to go in marketing his music especially on popular sharing platform YouTube.
Machaka, born and bred in Mbare was signed by Sheer Distributors a short while back just before releasing his 12-track album dubbed ‘Kwachena’.
The ‘Kwachena’ album was released on August 25, 2020. However, it has only managed a paltry 257 views almost a month after its release.
Machaka described his new album as an “African journey” that has brought charming sounds from Burkina Faso, Malawi and Zambia.
He quipped that the intent of the album is to tell Zimbabwe’s journey regarding her people’s day to day living.
"The songs on this album are a journey, an African journey with sounds from Burkina Faso shared through their amazing Kora and BalIaphone with us. It is also a journey that tells the true story of Zimbabwe, of having not just the Ndebele and ChiShona speakers but also those who have given an influence of Chinyanja and Chichewa from Zambia Malawi in our day to day living.
“I hope you will partake with me, the journey of love and the pursuit of happiness and peace. So it is all summed up in the title as the dawning for a new day. KWACHENA | THE DAWN | KUWALA,” Machaka said in a statement during the launch.
Musically, Machaka wears many hats as he also doubles up as a vocalist, songwriter, guitarist and a music teacher.
