Early this year, popular Ugandan songwriter Mudra announced that he was quitting his songwriting job to take on his new journey as an artiste.

Mudra who is known for writing top songs that include;  Vinka's 'My Baby', Omwotto by Cindy and most of Karole Kasita's song says songwriters are not given enough credit yet they do most of the work penning down these big songs.

"Some people we write for are not appreciative and also the industry has challenges. I personally have my dream to be a big star," Mudra said.

Addressing his debut song ‘Boss’ featuring Cindy, Mudra noted that the collabo was still not enough to lift him up on the map.

"Cindy did what she could on the song because she gave me her all as a big artiste. I do not blame them because everyone in life prioritizes themselves. If I can pen down a song like 'My Baby' for Vinka, it means I can also do that for myself because I can write a lot of solo music,” he opined.

Going forward, Mudra says he does not want to be branded as a songwriter anymore or associate with the songs he did for several Ugandan artistes.

"I admire Irene Ntale so much but I have put all those aside," Mudra said.
