Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has come to the aid of fast-rising music group Mbogi Genje that has been struggling to get their music out.
In a series of tweets over the weekend, Governor Sonko noted that he will closely walk with the group through their music journey, as part of his campaign promise to help improve life of Nairobi youths.
He vowed to pay for production of the group’s 10 unreleased songs, adding that he will get the modern equipment to help them record their songs.

The vocal governor further noted that he will build a fully stocked studio for the group to make it easier for them to release new music.
In addition to the above, Sonko divulged that he’ll use his connection to help the group secure invitations to perform at corporate events.
Here is Governor Sonko’s full statement:
In keeping with my commitment to support our artists and nurture talent in Nairobi especially during the hard times occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic, today I hosted the Mbogi Genje music group from Umoja.
The group currently has written 10 new songs, and I will support the production of all them. I will also provide them with a brand new Mac Book Pro to help them in editing their work, before setting up a fully equipped recording studio for them.
To ensure sustainability, I will facilitate them to establish an operating base in their neighbourhood, while utilizing my networks to help them secure corporate and private gigs where they will be earning.
For a long term solution, my administration will sponsor a Talent Incubation and Development Bill to enable the County set aside funds to support the diverse talents across Nairobi.
My dream is to enable our talented youth secure their place in the global arena, like our Bongo neighbours from Tanzania, or Nigeria and South Africa.
