It is important for Jorja Smith that the conversation on injustices is continued as she is also doing so with her new single dubbed ‘By Any Means’.
‘By Any Means’ is a powerful single talking about protecting the black community and consciously letting the black community thrive. In the song, Jorja is very intentional to let it be known that until justice is served, the fight for the black lives continue with her chorus built on the line, “by any means, I will fight for you.”
The song opens up with some ‘Madonna’ echo harmonies and Jorja joins in with a distant voice which eventually builds up into the song. The single opens up to a slow paced, very emotive and a quite subtle RnB beat. This gives room for Jorja Smith to comfortably run wild with all the melody her voice can carry and pack her voice with all the emotion necessary for the song.
The video is as powerful as the audio. It being a song about making sure that every person in the black community is protected, Jorja Smith got together her friends and their families and other families around her to share their faces and joy in the video. Everyone who appears in the video is part of the black community.
