We all have our spirit animals and for Victoria Monet, she embraces the spirit of a ‘Jaguar’ which is the title of her latest single. The single is the leading single for her new album which goes by the same title.
‘Jaguar’ is a beautiful disco pop single which Victoria taps into the nature of a Jaguar; it is silent in movement and you only see/notice it when it strikes or it is too late. In her words, Victoria Monet is definitely in line to take over the music scene with such tenacity; she is a Grammy nominated songwriter and one of the most sought after songwriters in the industry.
As mentioned, ‘Jaguar’ taps into the disco era to recreate a beautiful pop single. For her album, Victoria was going after a grown and sexy sound and so even with such a boppy single, Victoria achieves the grown and sexy sound with her vocal arrangement and lyrical prowess.
The video is a futuristic animated video done in a forest of sorts with only jaguars in sight; essentially, even the strong women featured there are embracing the spirit of a jaguar. As an ode to the disco era, Victoria and her crew get into a shuffle dance moment towards the end of the song.
