Protoje Collaborates With Popcaan for a New Single Dubbed 'Like Royalty'

Protoje has been teasing us with new music and the day is finally here. Protoje just released a new single titled ‘Like Royalty’ featuring Popcaan.
‘Like Royalty’ is a single about brighter days. Both Protoje and Popcaan give us an insight of their journeys before they got to where they are at the moment. There is the joy that they are now where they are and they plan to live out their lives like royalty and uplift those around them.
The collaboration would be great dynamic because Protoje and Popcaan are very different in the context of sound; Protoje is roots and Popcaan is dancehall. They however find a good balance and we have great a sounding roots single with a bop to it. Protoje raps through his verses and sings over the chorus while Popcaan raps through the last verse and provides the song’s outro.
The video is a visual representation of Popcaan and Protoje living their best lives. Protoje and his crew are driven through the streets with a procession of cars like the royalty they are. The video picks on different parts of Jamaica to show off as they drive through; the beach, the woods and what seems like a desert. The video also features Protoje’s protégés Sevana and Lila Ike and a cameo by Protoje’s family.
