Toni Braxton has been enjoying a lot of airplay since she stepped back the music scene with a joint album with her longtime collaborator, Babyface. Toni is now making sure that we stay active with her new single dubbed ‘Dance’.
‘Dance’ is Toni re-introducing us to the era that built her in sound, lyrically and feel. The single is about being heartbroken but Toni is choosing to dance/have a good time to forget the mess. Toni oscillates between these two dynamics from verse to chorus.
As mentioned above, Toni is using this single to take us a couple of decades back. ‘Dance’ is built on that transition era for RnB from Disco to blues hence it is a medium-paced single. You can feel a lot of Lionel Richie influences which was around the time Miss Toni was introduced to the game. Toni Braxton runs her strong vocals over the beat melodically and with beautiful harmonies.
The video is a highly choreographed video and not only with us watching Toni Braxton dancing with a number of dancers but also with the props and her costumes. The props include a water floor, a couple of steps in another scene and opaque mirrors. Toni Braxton is in gutter belts, scaled body-suits and oversized suits. This is a very visually pleasing video.
Toni Braxton is preparing to drop her new album which will be titled ‘Spell My Name’ later this month and as we wait for that drop, catch a choreographed vibe with Toni Braxton on ‘Dance’.
