Omulangaira Suuna Decries Being Broke, Vows to Hold Live Show Despite Government Ban

Legendary Ugandan musician Omulangira Suuna has vowed to pursue mechanisms of petitioning the government to allow musicians stage concerts and shows since it is their main source of income.
According to Suuna, artistes should be allowed to conduct shows while adhering measure put in place to combat Covid-19 including; social distancing, sanitizing and wearing masks.
The veteran musician noted that science weddings are happening, the same opportunity should be extended to musicians.
"…That means if I also stage my concerts and follow these rules of social distancing, masks for everyone and sanitizing, then I'm good to go," he said.
Justifying why he’s advocating for resumption of music shows, Omulangira said he is to broke and ready to go to any extremes so as to make ends meet.
He divulged that he has already booked the venue at Calendar for 29th August, and hopes his fans will come through.
Earlier this week, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni eased the lock down and pushed the nationwide curfew from 7 to 9pm.
"I can decide to start my show at 2 pm and end it at 8 pm or even 6 PM. This will allow people to go back home in time,” he said.
Suuna insisted that he will not wait until the ban on concerts is lifted because he is too broke, and will not hide it anymore.
"I need money and the only job I know how to do is music. I won't rob people, or dig. So I have to plan in my career. If taxis are working, arcades, Owino market, why not music?... It is a peaceful demonstration and I ask the government to let me work because I promise to follow all the rules just like they told us to," he divulged.
