Jhene Aiko Drops Visuals For Her New Single 'Summer'

It is hard to catch a breath during these times because things are happening everywhere and Jhene Aiko is reminding us that it is important to take time to just breathe with her new single ‘Summer’.
‘Summer’ goes in line with the season because it is about summer in countries with the four seasons. It is however a different summer because everyone is trying to stay alive and so not much is happening. Jhene Aiko is using this song to remind us to enjoy the moments we have, treasure them and take it one day at a time, “Take it easy like summer.”
The audio follows Jhene Aiko’s signature style of minimalism with the instrumentation and the discord between that and her flow; sort of creating a jazz feel unintentionally. Jhene Aiko flows in an almost freestyle manner; again very signature to her style and in this particular single she sings all through.
The video is shot in a backyard with a makeshift pool. Jhene Aiko is chilling and creating bubbles in warm colours and it really does feel like summer. The video has a very airy feel to it and all the colour from props, the sunshine and Jhene’s clothes give off that summer vibe.
