The world has been going through some weird times and everyone is hanging on to the memories and nostalgia of times before rona. Trevor Daniel and Selena Gomez have decided to put all this nostalgia in their new single, ‘Past Life’.
‘Past Life’ is a single that speaks about the memories created, lessons learnt or experiences shared at a particular time that can never be erased even when parties involved have moved on. The song carries a lot of nostalgia with it in terms of sound and lyrics.
The song is a soft rock tune which opens with an acoustic guitar. It does not layer up too much which creates a hollow side to it which is necessary for the nostalgic build-up of the song. Both Trevor Daniel and Selena Gomez have similar a vocal range and voices which makes marrying their voices pretty easy. They are both very intentional about bottling all that emotion within their voices.
The video starts off as an Instagram Live correspondent between Trevor and Selena. It then progresses into a virtual 3D world developed off Trevor and Selena’s facial features. The video almost feels like a tour around the world featuring streams, mountains, the beach, the desert and much more.
