H.E.R has been experimenting with her sound quite a lot this year and she is back at it with her new reggae single titled ‘Do To Me’.

‘Do To Me’ is one of those singles you will turn up to as a question because you feel like you are falling in love and it’s delirious and you are not sure how all this happened but you are at that point.

As mentioned, H.E.R has been very experimental; we were introduced to H.E.R as an alternative RnB artist with some very soulful vocals and could play strings. She has since morphed, especially this year to the artist who is more soul than RnB in the context of sound and she even plays keys.

H.E.R gave us a reggae song at the beginning of this year featuring reggae royalty, Skip Marley. ‘Do To Me’ is also reggae and even deeper, it is a roots song. It has all the slow-paced fully vibes instrumentation, occasional loud trumpet like sounds and the occasional vocal wordings/conversations. This covers H.E.R vocally and not in a hideous way but in a way she stays in one range for the better part of the song and only switches up to create some melody and runs with her vocals. She is also very soulful about her delivery of this song.

It is exciting to watch H.E.R rediscover her sound even in the genres we have not thought of her in. Catch a vibe with H.E.R on ‘Do To Me’.
