Tanzanian rapper and activist Roma Mkatoliki of the Rostam group has taken a jibe at the country’s music regulator BASATA over plans to roll out the Tanzanian music awards.
Taking to Twitter, Roma says that it would not be fair for the National Arts Council of Tanzania (BASATA) to hold the gala.
According to the rapper, artistes like him would likely not benefit from it, considering he is never in good terms with the organization.
He proposed that the Council should allow other organisations to hold the fete for fairness.

Zikianzishwa na Basata , wasanii wengine wakina sisi jamani kuzipata itakuwa Ndoto” reads his post.
His post comes days after Konde Gang’s Harmonize urged BASATA to find a way of appreciating musicians, arguing that local artistes have nothing to show for their hard work
Speaking on Monday, BASATA Deputy Managing Director Emanuel Ishengoma pointed out that plans are already underway to launch the award scheme.
Ishengoma stated that the body was planning to reach out to local musicians for opinions regarding the fete.
