Halsey and Marshmello have teamed up to release their new soft and pop single titled ‘Be Kind’. The video to the song is as soft and full of pastels.
‘Be Kind’ taps into a subtle touch of disco; the kind of 80s disco we heard from the Weeknd’s Blinding Lights. This is well covered by a more urban/contemporary pop-rock beat that is medium-paced. It is a feel good song and you can tell that Marshmello were going for a summer bop/vibe when getting around to making the song.
The video is set in a warehouse that has only a seat and Halsey in it. It is very rustic and uses Halsey in her baby pink sweatshirt to bring all the colour on set. Halsey is virtually moving from one scene to the next with each scene having more life and colour that the last. All the scenes are graphically designed and Halsey is sort of photo shopped to them.
The video is heavy on choreography and apart from the synced audio, Halsey does not move her lips to dance in the video. Halsey puts on a descriptive and emotive show with the choreography. In an interview after the release of the song, she claims that she fractured her knee and filmed the song while still healing from that.
If you might need colour today, Halsey and the Marshmello on ‘Be Kind’ would be a great place to start, catch a vibe.
