Urban contemporary group soaring high into international borders

The Kenyan music industry has over the years grown and established itself to be one of the most diverse and ever changing within the East African region and as time has progressed, we have seen the debut of various music groups into the entertainment scene, but non like the new urban contemporary group 'Upart Together'.

Upart Togetheris probably one of the most outright and unique killer groups in Kenya currently; Imagine a music unit that features the following combination; Teddy Barry- an architect by profession, Wasa - an engineer by profession, Barney - a Designer by profession, Droopy - a businessman by profession, Dexter- an automotive Marketer and deaf poet Zablon -an Industrial designer; this put together gives birth to the out spoken and outstanding'Upart Together'.

"We have been in existence since 2008 as a music crew and art unit and we are based in Westlands. our reputation goes past borders, having followers from as far as Brooklyn, the Uk, L.A just to mention a few hot spots where our mailing list reaches" shares Barney.

"In 2012, we had a self-organized tour that saw us move from Mtwapa, Voi, Machakos, Nairobi, Limuru, Nax, Kisumu, Eldoret and further into Uganda-Kigali. Its always amazing the kind of love art and music can bring to an artist. However local fans tend to give cold shoulders untill you get recognition from outside the country, then they term you as successful" he went on to add.

This is not the first time artists have complained about being brushed off locally, a while back there was a whole debate as to why Nigerian music is taking over local music in clubs and radio stations, with the argument stating that local artists never produce quality material.

Asked on how they plan to rubbish this claims and win over fans, Barney simply stated "Hard work goes unnoticed, further into the arts, we have a photography movement termed #getframed that has been phenomenal. We shot photos in every area we landed covering the adoring fans and friends all through the tour above stated. To date, we have over 20,000 pics taken of individual persons regardless of tribe, skin colour, gender, race, socio-economic class, height, looks....etc;Our motto is simple and what we live by empowering Minds Globally"
