Nigerian singer Burna Boy has dismissed claims by his South African counterpart Sho Madjozi over the pull down of a remix to 'Own It', a song that was originally done by UK Rapper Stormzy featuring Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy last year.

Sho Madjozi had claimed that Burna Boy ordered for the remix to be pulled down after they were both nominated in the same category for the BET Awards 2020.

"For those asking where the #Ownitremix is, after I got nominated alongside him for BET Best International Act, Burna boy asked Stormzy’s team to take down the song immediately," Sho Madjozi posted on her Twitter handle on Thursday.

According to the 'John Cena' hit maker, Burna Boy felt threatened by her for the Best International Act award hence his decision to order for the remix to be pulled down.

"Well, i guess it’s a good sign if manna shook. Last year BB and I were cool at the BETs. I guess everyone thought this little girl isn’t a threat, now same category!?!? It’s shaking," she noted in another tweet.

Responding to the claims, Burna Boy said the 'Own It' remix by Sho Madjozi was pulled down as it was not approved by the Atlantic US record label.

The 'African Giant' further said the decision to pull down the remix has "nothing to do with me personally or any award".

"Own It is NOT my song.If my voice is on it however it should have been properly cleared. If the remix wasn't cleared with the label(Atlantic US)it automatically gets flagged. Nothing to do with me personally or any award. Always best to reach out professionally. Congrats on BET’s!," Burna Boy said in a tweet.

"Oh and congrats to my brothas for life Dave, hus and stormz who I’ve made LEGENDARY music with! We’re all nominees in the same category but UNITY will always be the real win for us!" he added in another tweet.
