We are now familiar with Viva Entertainment's new signing Free Boy Adams because he has one of the biggest songs of 2020 so far, titled 'Kwata Essimu' featuring Swangz Avenue diva Winnie Nwagi.

Many music lovers, however, think Free Boy's unique vocals are mimicking legendary Kadongo Kamu artiste Gerald Kiweewa’s 'Gaali Ekozeko'.

Setting the record straight, Free Boy in an interview with Spark TV revealed that he was trying to be as unique as possible in the many voices that he sings in.

"That is my style but not the kind I begun with. As an artiste, I am versatile so I listen to different sounds. This was something I learned from my parents. I listened to all those kadongo Kamu artistes and grew up wanting to do something better than what they did. Yes the genre was there, but it did not have that vibe that appeases the young generation.

“Many have told me about having the same voice but I really don't think that I sound like him. With all due respect, I would like to meet him because his songs carry good messages," Free Boy said.

In an interview with the same station, Kiweewa revealed that young artistes who always mimic existing artistes’ voices do not usually last. Free Boy, however, thinks otherwise.

"Music is not about imitating someone. I think the sound does not matter but how best you bring it out. I believe what I brought was not to imitate Kiweewa but I brought something fresh. Because I really respected what he did but I brought something that was not there. Mine is so different,” he divulged.
