Kenyan rock band recognized at international event!

Not so many artists in Kenya have risked venturing into the rock music scene. Many will say it’s because the genre is not so popular in the country and building an audience will take time.

There have been many attempts, however, to grow and develop this genre and increase its fan base through the introduction of radio Africa’s 24-hour rock station XFM to the Fuse which airs every weekday on Capital FM and the first ever rock music TV show ‘The Rumble’ which airs on K24.

For the few rock fans available in the country Parking Lot Grass (PLG) is a very familiar name. The boys have followed their passion and love for rock to establish themselves as one of the leading rock bands in Kenya and presumably East Africa.

When they debuted in the music scene enthusiastic fans were certain that they would be the band to watch out for and amazingly they have not disappointed.

Their effort is beginning to yield fruit having been invited to perform at an international event; the 49 Degrees Metal Zone Festival taking place in Bayreuth, Germany from the 24th to the 26th of this month.

“We’re stoked! We’re extremely excited. To be the first Kenyan rock band to perform in Europe is a big thing for us,” the band members told Mdundo.

“This will be a good opportunity for us to a new level and we’re going to deliver our best show. Germany get ready,” they added.
