Ugandan dance group Masaka Kids Africana have hit a new milestone in their career, securing one million subscribers on YouTube.

The young music/dance group are the latest stars from Uganda to be awarded with a Gold Creator Award after hitting one million subscribers on YouTube; an American online video-sharing platform.

The elated youngsters took to their social media platforms to thank their fans for the support.

"Wow!!! Look what just arrived from @youtube 1,000,000 subscribers @masakakidsafricana. Thank you and we love y'all our people. Thank you God and to everyone who subscribed and pushed us over that 1M milestone. It means a lot to have such amazing fans. To God be all the glory!," said the Masaka Kids Africana as they posed alongside their gold-plated play button.

YouTube CEO Ms Susan Wojcick congratulated the kids for the new milestone.

"We know that being able to touch the lives of many people is a reward enough. But we're incredibly proud of all you've done, so we hope you'll accept this Gold Creator Award as a token of our esteem," read part of her appreciation letter.

The Masaka Kids Africana came up just a few years ago with inspiration from the Triplets Ghetto Kids.

Their dances and lifestyle seem to have caught the attention of the international audience.

Their dance videos have pulled millions of views on YouTube. In February, they danced to Eddy Kenzo's Tweyagale and the video on YouTube has more than 19 million views.

The group becomes the second to receive the award after Eddy Kenzo bagged it a couple of months ago.
