Maua Sama Sets New Record in Tanzania

Tanzanian singer Maua Sama has entered into history books with her ‘Iokote’ hit single that features Hanstone.
Sama is now the number one female Tanzanian singer with the highest music video views for a single song on YouTube.
By press time, the song produced Abba had garnered over 18.3 million views and Sama could not hide her joy with the achievement.
In an interview, Sama stated that she was thrilled to hit the unexpected milestone while at the same thanking her fans for the support.

"Kwa mimi ni kitu kikubwa sana kwa hii safari yangu ya muziki, imenifanya nimeanimi kila kitu kinawezekana na pia kumuamimi mungu. (For me this is a big achievement in my musical journey it has made me believe that everything is possible with trust in God),” said Sama.
She maintained that garnering 18 million views was unexpected.
Interestingly, after releasing ‘Iokote’ the singer was arrested for 10 days on allegations of devaluing the Tanzanian currency while promoting the song on social media.
She dismissed reports that the arrest had contributed to the song’s success.
According to Sama, before her arrest, the song had already been received well across the East Africa region.
