Lila Ike is growing to be one of the most listened to rub-a-dub reggae artists of our time under the mentorship of Protoje. She has released the first single off of her new project dubbed ‘Solitude’.
‘Solitude’ is a single about reaching that quiet space in a world full of chaos. Especially for someone like her who is in the spotlight which comes with everyone having an opinion on her life and in this single, she is key on finding that peace of mind and serenity.
‘Solitude’ has a calmness to it and Lila keeps it that way with her voice too, away from her ever explosive and reaching almost head voice vocal capability. The instrumentation is quite minimalistic with just the dub step going on with little layering over it and it fades off towards the end into a violin riff.
The video is shot in a vlog series of sorts. It gives us snippets of Lila’s day in the search of silence. We watch her in the gym, getting in her yoga, eating fresh fruit from the garden, swimming in a waterfall/cave, enjoying the sunset and creating music. Lila invites us into her space with this particular video.
