Last month on 14th, Uganda’s President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni announced an extension of the country’s COVID-19 lock-down for 21 days, meaning the lock down was to run until May 5, 2020, before another pronouncement is issued.

Yesterday, May 5, 2020, the president in a press conference announced an extension of the lock down by 14 days eliciting mixed reactions from Ugandans.

While a section of Ugandans felt the lock down was important, others felt that it was affecting livelihoods of families, as many people are not working.

Reacting to the extension, Ugandan musician Karole Kasita expressed his disappointment, noting that many people are suffering in their homes due to the lock down.

“I don't know how people are going to survive. It’s too sad to be in fear of greeting a friend. How are people surviving? It is sad" Karole Kasita posted followed by sad emojis.

Anxiety levels have doubled during the corona virus lock down and while many artistes are sad, Eddy Kenzo who is currently stuck in Ivory Coast says he is getting used to the situation and does not care if the lock down is lifted or not.

Translated from Luganda, his post read: "When life gives you lemon, you make lemonade out of it. I decided to forget that I'm not home. So I let it go and now Abidjan is my home. Even if the lock down ends or not, I do not mind since I'm now part of Ivory Coast. I got used and I think you can see my pictures I look more relaxed now and I'm happy to be here," Eddy Kenzo posted.
