Cassper Nyovest took time to remember the slain rapper Pop Smoke with his new song ‘Amademoni’ featuring Tweezy. The song is without doubt an amplified sample of Pop Smoke’s Dior.
‘Amademoni’ loosely translates to ‘Demons’ in Zulu. For Cassper, this translates to all the hype he is on from everything around him; his fans, money, hip-hop status and more.
The song begins by honouring Pop Smoke with the line, “RIP Pop Smoke.” From that point, Cassper and Tweezy roll over to the song. Cassper takes on a very rough and brush delivery of the song which blends well with the amplified ‘Dior’ beat. He serves us with the rough edges just as Pop. Tweezy comes through with the vocals for the song which in many ways gives a soft touch to the single.
‘Amademoni’ is a one of those hip-hop jams where the artist, in this case Cassper is bragging about his achievements and reminding people that he is really the hip-hop G.O.A.T down in South Africa.
The video, done in lockdown brings to life clips/shots of Cassper on stage, when it was still possible to tour. We see Cassper in the presence of the legendary J. Cole; Cassper still stamping his legendary status. We watch Cassper channel Pop throughout the video with the ‘Dior’ dance that Pop had going on.
We are definitely reliving Pop Smoke through this single. Catch a vibe with Cassper Nyovest and Tweezy on ‘Amademoni’.
