Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Tuesday 14th April 2020 announced an extension of Uganda’s COVID-19 lock-down for 21 days.

The announcement means that the lock down will now run up to 5th May, before the government issues further communications on the same.

The extension caused mixed feelings among Ugandans, with some lamenting their troubles in foreign nations.

Reacting to the announcement, renowned Ugandan singer Eddy Kenzo, who is currently in Ivory Coast noted that he ‘can’t take it anymore’.

The Big Talent boss had traveled for a concert and before he could come back, he was locked out of the country when President Museveni ordered a total shutdown of the Entebbe International Airport, and all borders both on land and in the air in response to containing the spread of the Corona virus.

"I was watching president adding more 21 days of which he is right because it is for the good of the country but I'm about to die. I am not well" Eddy Kenzo said as he jokingly suggested to trade his car for money via Western Union.

The World Health Organisation last week called out to countries advising them not to lift the lock down as yet.

The 21 days extension came after the elapse of an initial 14-day lock down.

While making the announcement, President Museveni acknowledged that Uganda was not prepared for a pandemic that has killed several people worldwide.

So far, Uganda has confirmed 54 cases, with seven being released over the weekend after testing negative.
