Tanzanian artist Harmonize has suffered a setback after his recently launched ‘Afro East’ album was pulled down from major streaming platforms over unclear circumstances.

By press time, the album was no longer available on Tidal, Amazon, Deezer, YouTube, and Yandex.

On YouTube, the artist was re-uploading the songs afresh through a different channel.

However, the deletion of the songs has not affected the ‘Mama’ video which is among the lead singles from the album.

Interestingly, the audio for ‘Mama’ and ‘Fall in love’ which are original compositions have also been pulled down.

It is a blow to the artists since the songs had amassed over one million views on YouTube.

Only last week, the album was the most-streamed project globally on platforms like Deezer and Audiomac.

Under most circumstances, songs usually get pulled down over copyright issues.

The ‘Afro East’ album has sampled different songs from international acts like the late Papa Wemba and Brick n Lace. It is not clear if he received clearance to sample the songs.

Last year, Harmonize’s ‘Uno’ song was marred with controversy following accusations that the beat did not receive clearance from Kenyan producer Magix Enga.

Since leaving the Wasafi record label, Harmonize heavily invested in the ‘Afro East’ album and the latest development is a major setback.

The management of the artist is yet to comment on the issue.
