Nigeria Music Labels to Anticipate Massive Hits 2020-21

Record labels have been a dominant force in growing, Marketing, Promoting, distributing and producing music and relevant dimensions and environments to artist success.
The mainstream absorption and use of the internet have had many artists market and distribute their music independently through social media and streaming platforms at a much lower cost. To stay in business, given the reality of the digital age, record labels now offer so-called 360 deals to artists that give them a cut of all the artist's work, including album sales, media appearances, and product endorsements.
With these developments, labels that have adapted to these changing times are featured today.
A.Davido Music Worldwide (DMW)
David Adeleke popularly known as Davido founded Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) in 2016 after exiting his brothers'(Adewale Adekunle) HKN record label, HKN which he founded with his elder brother, Adewale Adekunle.
The record label has grown from 1 to more than 10 artists among them Mayorkun, Dremo, Yonda, Peruzzi, DJ E-Cool, Saucekid, Shizzi, Idowest, Speroach Beatz and Ayanfe. It bagged City People Music Award for Record Label of the Year 2018.
B. Mavin Records
Mavin Records was formed after the separation of members of Mo’Hits Records which Michael Collins Ajereh (Don Jazzy) co-founded with D’Banj. Mavin is solely owned by Don Jazzy.
The record label blossomed when Rema was Signed. This was after Tiwa Savage and Reekado Banks left to Universal Music and Bank Music respectively.
Mavin Records hosts Johnny Drille like Ladi Poe, DNA, and Crayon.
C. Star Boy Entertainment
Ayo Balogun popularly known as Wizkid established StarBoy Records in 2012after departing Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) in 2011.
It hosts L.A.X, Maleek Berry And Legendury Beatz. DJ Olu is the label official DJ. On September 17, 2014, Wizkid's Album Ayo Was released by Starboy Entertainment And Empire Mates Entertainment As its first released album.
D. YBNL Nation
Yahoo Boy No Laptop (YBNL) was founded by Olamide Adedeji popularly known as Badoo after he came into limelight in 2011.
The label has grown some incredible artistes like Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, Viktoh who have all gone solo.
It is home DJ Enimoney, Pheelz and Young John the Wicked Producer, Temmie, Ovwasa, Limerick, and raving artiste, Fireboy DML.
E. Dr. Dolor Entertainment
Dr. Dolor Entertainment was founded by Osadolor Nate Asemota popularly known as Dr. Dolor.
Teni, lead artist in the label, has so far won three awards in 2018 (including the Headies Awards) and a 2019 BET awards nomination. She also bagged amazing endorsement deals with Pepsi Nigeria, Budweiser, TomTom, and Tecno Mobile.
It is also home to Hotkid, Amin Osha, Nikita, Ryan Omo
F. 960 Music Group
960 Music Group also offers content provision and artist management on its mandate on providing diverse audio and visual entertainment across Nigeria.
The company is headed by Mark Redguard and co-founded by Efe Omorogbe. 960 Music brags of being the first in collaborating labels in its new-age approach in Nigeria. The Independent record labels include; include Hypertek Digital (2 Face, Sir Victor Uwaifo, Rocksteady, and Dammy Krane), Aristokrat Records (Pucado, Kamar, Ozone, Mojeed, and Leriq) and Ultima Productions (Geoffrey Oji).
G. Chocolate City
Audu Maikori, a Nigerian lawyer, entrepreneur, social activist, and creative industry professional founded Chocolate City in 2005.
Chocolate City is not only offering record label services but also event planning company, management consulting firm, and, advertising and media.
The record label is headed by legendary rapper MI Abaga and it has produced several acts like Jesse Jagz, MI, Ice Prince, Brymo and is the current home to Ckay, Koker, Victoria Kimani, DJ Lambo, Blaqbonez, Dice Ailes and Yung L.
H. Spaceship Entertainment
Spaceship Entertainment was founded in 2015 by Burna Boy who is regarded as the African Giant.
