Coronavirus outbreak forces Musician D Black to close nightclub

One of Ghana’s busiest nightclubs, Onyx, owned by popular musician, D-Black, has been forced to shut down as a result of the Government of Ghana’s order to ban all social gatherings amid coronavirus fears.

The popular nightclub closed its doors to customers as a result of Sunday evening’s executive order from President Nana Akufo-Addo banning all social gatherings, church activities, funerals among other social gatherings across the country.
According to the Manager of the Nightclub, Emmanuel the nightclub was shut down immediately the president placed the ban on social gatherings.

‘’We spoke to the staff of Onyx on Sunday after the President issued the directive banning all social gatherings. And we have not opened for business yet’’ Emmanuel said in an interview on ‘Showbiz Xtra’ on Accra-based Happy FM.

The nightclub is among many such social places that have been forced to close their doors to customers because of the governments' measures to prevent a massive outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. Churches and other institutions have now adopted TV, radio and social media to reach their members.

As nightclubs and other businesses like Onyx begin to close their doors others will wrestle with fears of how to stay afloat.
